Payment Protection Insurance Claims

Your partner for PPI claims

It's no wonder so many Payment Protection Insurance (PPI) policies are sold to British customers; it is a £6 billion a year industry. EMCAS has represented thousands of people who have been mis-sold PPI. Our success rate is excellent – and remember we only charge for managing your claim if we win.

Payment Protection Insurance has only been regulated by the Financial Services Authority (FSA) since 2005 but the industry has known about the problem for years. However we can pursue certain providers before this date though. Click here to do a quick eligibility test.

Who is PPI sold to?

Anyone who takes out a mortgage, loan or credit agreement will probably have been offered Payment Protection Insurance or else there may be one subtly written into the repayment terms. Here is an example:

You need a £10,000 loan so you see your bank manager. You can afford to repay £300 per month, and the loan is agreed on those terms. However, what you probably don't realise is that part of what you pay back every month is actually Payment Protection Insurance, so not only are you repaying the loan and interest on the loan, you are also paying for PPI and interest on the PPI as well.

Payment Protection Insurance sounds reassuring: accident, sickness and unemployment cover should protect you in the event that you suffer from an accident, become sick or have an illness that prevents you from working or become unemployed, but it's rarely that simple. The two main reasons for absence from the workplace are stress and back pain and these are specifically excluded from most PPI policies.

FACT:

The statistics show that only 15% of PPI policyholders ever make a claim. When they do, 85% are rejected. That means there is only a 1 in 44 chance that PPI will actually pay out!
