Cutting the cost of credit
Think you've been charged too much in late payment fees or for going over your credit limit? The Office of Fair Trading (OFT) agrees with you. In 2006, they decided that charges applied by credit card companies were too high. As a result, many banks have cut charges to £12.
Guaranteed pay out
The OFT have given their very public condemnation of unfair charges, and the banks know they have been unreasonable. That is why EMCAS guarantees (subject to the required criteria being met) to get a refund on every credit card overpayment application that we take on. Even if your bank or Credit Card company has now brought its rates down to £12, we can still recoup those costs for you too.
This is how it works:
-
Just get in touch to claim back credit card charges – the sooner the better because we will back-date your claim six years from the date of our initial application.
-
We'll take all the necessary details. Don't worry if you don't have statements stretching back that far – we can get the information we need from the bank.
-
There are occasional exceptions, but you can usually expect to receive your payout in 8-12 weeks.
Britain's got debt
The UK is in debt to the tune of £1.46 trillion, of which £61.4 billion is credit card debt (Source: Debtwizard). We know that if banks and Credit Card companies didn't levy such high charges that figure would be significantly lower, and that's why we want to do something about it. We will make sure you get money back. The only proviso (and it's a small one) is that any refunds awarded will initially be used to pay off any arrears if there is a balance on your card.
Want to find out more? Just get in touch and we can get your application started straightaway.
Can I claim back my bank charges too?
We were all dealt a big blow in November 2009 when the Supreme Court ruled against the OFT who had argued, as we had, that overdraft charges were grossly unfair. But the fight goes on. The case for claiming bank charges is still growing, and we're not advising anyone to give up on it just yet.
We have a number of bank charges claims on file ready to pursue as soon as we get a green light. You are still welcome to submit a bank charge claim, but as things stand, we are unable to progress it just yet. Keep an eye on our site for updates.
